I just hurt myself laughing at "Merry Christmas, You Suckers".

My daughter (10) agrees.

I have this comforting feeling that your back yard is some vast elephants' burial ground for Christmas kitsch. Your sharings today are wonderful--and I suspect you're saving the best for later.

Thanks for all the lovely tunes. I just discovered there is a download zip file option. That's a neat convenient feature. Don K.

Thanks so very much for these great Christmas songs. I love the variety and have downloaded every one of them.

Thanks for the nice words! I'm bouncing back from my sinus ailment, so there's more on the way. More music, that is (not more sinus trouble, I hope!!!).

Re zip files, I'd thought about using them, but I'm not that fond of them. I realize the advantages and all--quicker, easier transfer. Then again, I almost never do LP shares or the like, and I prefer to give people a pick-and-choose option.

Tough call. I must think about it.

WOOHOO! I have a "mexican brass" version of Sing A Kris Kringle Jingle and I've been looking for a vocal version for some time. This one is swingin!!!! THANK YOU! :)

Lee, is this the same version of "Sleigh Ride" that you posted last year (http://musicyouwont.blogspot.com/2005/11/mypwhaes-unhip-christmas-part-2.html) and said was the best one?

Lee Hartsfeld said...

Stephen,

Yes. The mono mix of Fiedler's "Sleigh Ride." Wish I knew when it was recorded. The stereo version, to my ears, doesn't have the same punch. Assuming it's not a separate take altogether.

It's the stereo version that shows up all the time, of course.

Lee,

Maybe this will help you figure it out. I'm hoping it's the RCA red vinyl one (but you probably would've mentioned that).

Don't know.... Mine's a black label reissue. It sounds too hi-fi to be 1949, imo.

My mother was singing "Sing a Kris Kringle Jingle" for days and I could not find the sing anywhere for her! I began to doubt it exixted at all! Imagine how happy we all were when I found it for her on your site. Thank you for posting these songs for everyone - now she can sing along with the song! Thanks again!

I personally think "Peter Cotton Claus" is the best song ever! I say that confidentally because my friends and sister were thrilled! I am 'wait peter cotton claus wait for me' and my friends and sister were the children singing throughout the song! It's a silly song but isn't it so much better for our children to listen to then some of the things playing now?!

Anon.,

I'd have to agree. Great to hear from someone who was on the recording! Your "Wait for me" is definitely one of the highlights.

Many thanks for dropping by!
