At MY(P)WHAE Text, six photos of our adorable Manx cat Griff, the newest member of my tuxedo trio. He's been hiding out on us for weeks, but more and more he's coming out of his furry shell.

Roots of Ferrante and Teicher, Part 4
Four-hand piano works from 1888, 1909, and 1883--in somewhat more recent recordings. Seems that the flashy, show-stopping twin-piano tradition goes back a ways. As we might expect.

Magic Moments (1958)--Denny Dennis

Believe it or not, I don't do much file-hunting on the Internet--I'm too busy putting the things up, I guess. But tonight I went searching for Denny Dennis' 1958 sound-alike version of the Bacharach-and-David-penned Perry Como hit Magic Moments, and I promptly found it at Yours for a Song--A Tribute to Denny Dennis, from which this post's image and file were copied. Lots more where that came from--Lee says, check it out.
British pop vocalist Dennis--whom I'd never before heard of--does a great job on this. Wish I'd learned of this excellent singer sooner ("singer sooner"?). Dennis, who had achieved fame as a vocalist with British bandleaders Roy Fox and Ambrose, as well as with American bandleader Tommy Dorsey, wound up on the cheapie Woolworths label, Embassy, just as former American big band vocalists Artie Malvin and Bob Eberly had ended up on similar U.S. labels (Waldorf, Prom, etc.). Why? Two words: rock and roll.
Well, three, if you count the "and."
Click here to reach the file, which was taken from Tony Bradley's excellent Denny Dennis tribute site, which we urge you to check out: Magic Moments--Denny Dennis, 1958.

Isaac Hayes--"The Look of Love" (1973)
From Live at the Sahara Tahoe, one of two Hayes LPs I found at our local Goodwill a few weeks back. This was shortly before Hayes passed away. If I were a superstitious sort, I'd mentally concoct some connection between finding the Hayes LPs and the fact of Hayes' passing, but what possible connection could there be?
(One Step Beyond theremin. "The wall between the known and the unknown is paper-thin..."--John Newland.)
Shut up, John. Anyway, from 1973, this is the late, great Isaac Hayes singing a Burt and Hal classic:

Hooray, Hooray, I'm Goin' Away
This is SO where I'm at right now....

Meanwhile, can anyone explain why I'm not able to insert a link into Blogger text when I'm in Firefox? That is, and have it work as such? (I'm in I.E. now.)
Is Blogger Firefox-unfriendly?
