Halloween 2008, Part 5--Sci-Fi and Monsters

"Are you sure you didn't see my son's baseball? He swears it went into your yard...."

I'll let that caption remain ambiguous in terms of who's asking the question (the knight or monster?). I suppose it's funnier if it's the monster speaking, but I leave that decision to you, dear caption-reader. Another possibility: "Have you seen any monsters around here?"

Yes, science fiction and monsters, from the H-Man, rocket ships, robots, and King Kong to Godzilla, The Jolly Green Giant, and crazy places from (actually, in) outer space. We got it all. And you can download it all in a single zip file.

And I accidentally repeated a track from the previous slaylists--Jeff Barry's The Face from Outer Space. So, in case you hear it and think, "Hey, I've heard that before, and recently," now you know why. Today's Journey Into Space, however, is a different Journey Into Space than the Halloween 2008, Part 3 track.

The rest are new to 2008, at least at this blog. These will put you in a happy, silly mood. With the horrific economic news of late, most of us could use a silly, happy mood. This Halloween season is a tad too close to Halloween for my tastes.

I prefer the pretend version.

We Three Things Abhorrent Are; The Little Train of Bethlehem

My latest additions to the Christmas at Halloween suite: We Three Things Abhorrent Are and The Little Train of Bethlehem.

The first number really rocks, in my opinion--in a 1965 sense.

Soon, some more non-Lee Halloween selections. Stay tombed!

Our gorgeous new Manx

We've had him for about a half hour--a gift from two cat lovers who rescued this handsome, abandoned Manx mix from a winter storm early this year. He's very people-friendly, but he's not sure about the other cats. He's doing the traditional newly-arrived-cat's growling and hissing (translation: "What's going on around here? Who ARE these cats?"), and he's already staked out the living room windowsill as his own. He's a Manx, all right.

But a semi-Manx, we think. Note that, while he has the standard squat Manx body (complete with no tail), his head isn't the proper round shape. And his eyes aren't quite wide enough. Which is not to fault him--we love him just the way he is.

Ohio GOP is on the case

What would the Halloween season be without voter-suppression news from a "battleground" state such as, oh, mine (Ohio)? Less horrific, for one thing.

Read all about at MY(P)WHAE text: Ohio GOP is on the case.

Sample:

And, so, the Ohio Republican Party has gone to a federal court to complain that people are voting. And, because they're Republicans, they're being (pick one) A) told to get a life, B) laughed at, C) razzed by the citizens of this great state, or D) getting their way, as usual.

D? How did you guess!!

If it sounds like I'm a little sick of the GOP about this time, you got it.

Meanwhile, the fabulous Rachel Maddow is the best thing that ever happened to TV, MSNBC or otherwise. She is brilliant, medium-volumed, friendly to a fault (yet perfectly focused and assured), witty, super-well-educated, and (frankly) cuddly. She's a joy to tune into after the yelling and boom-boom background sounds on/of Chris Matthews and Keith Doberman.

Not only that, I like her.

My Christmas at Halloween suite continues with Santa's on His Way, Noisy Night, and The Brittle Mummy Boy. These titles pretty much explain themselves. Better than I can explain myself....

Fifteen songs and eight artists for our Sunday morning gospel, with two (no, not seven) of them pictured above. These are Sunday morning gospel repeats, but what glorious repeats. Any playlist that includes The Royal Telephone, Meeting in the Air, and Brethren, We Have Come to Worship is my kind of playlist. And, um, I created the list. Coincidence? I think not.
