"R-O-C-K," "Standing on the Corner"

As I noted in my last post, Savefile appears to be no more. Unless it's the fault of our Internet "service"--dunno. Anything's possible.

I was, however, able to get stuff to Box.net (whose upload time is about 1/10 of Savefile's). These are the Four Jacks (who, I understand, were never the same four from side to side or label to label), with covers of Bill Haley's R-O-C-K and The Four Lads' Standing on the Corner. The sound quality on the first title is almost nonexistent, whereas the second's is more than acceptable. Both are good, solid covers--especially Standing.

The label is Gateway Top Tune, which put out tons of low-price covers during the Fifties, the quality of which varied like crazy from one title to the next. I have an earlier Four Jacks side on an earlier version of this label (Top Tunes, vice Gateway Top Tune).

"Christmas at Halloween" suite complete.

And there's nothing quite as sweet as a complete suite. Thirteen parts, no less--er, no fewer. The newest sections are Desist, Ye Scary Gentlemen and The First Noel, The Second Noel, and The Third Noel.

I don't know what to say about the chords in the last number, except that I like the way they sound, though I'm not sure the right-hand harmonies always go well with the left. I did them separately, with extended chords in very close voicings in the r.h. for a jazzy effect. Just imagine me playing away with my right hand locked in position (the opposite of the way I was taught). Or imagine my forearm hitting the keys, WWF-fashion.

I have no idea what I'm babbling about.

The zip file link below will take you to all thirteen (buwa-ha-haaaa!!!) files. I numbered them, but of course 10, 11, 12, and 13 show up after 1, after which things return to 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.

I should have used letters. Oh, well.
