Low-budget Fab Four covers, all anonymous, and all of them fun. A few "gear" turns here and there, even. Most are U.K. issues, with the Beatlemania LP (Top Six TSL 1) usually going for inane price tags on eBay--except in my case (about four bucks, plus postage to the U.S.). The kind of stuff I love, but not for $69.00 to $99.00.
1964, I believe. Not for sure, but almost. It's moderately definite. Somewhat absolute.
The last two numbers on our fab-list come from the same label, Top Six ("The teenagers choice"), only a 45 rpm EP, this time. They are Bad To Me and She Loves You, the latter not the same as the Beatlemania track. Kind of odd, really. I mean, when a budget label doesn't reuse its own material.
Help!, Eleanor Rigby, and Birthday are courtesy of Columbia Record Club and Columbia House (same difference, I'm assuming). Now you know as much as I do about these....

I started hearing these knock-offs on the radio in 1964 I was so much younger then.
For my money, for a Beatles tribute band no one will ever come close to The Rutles. Sheer genius, and even approved by George. John heard their first record and loved it as well.
I've seen reportage that Paul didn't care for it, and have no idea what Dick Starkey thought.
Runnerup? "LS Bumblebee"
Hi Lee,
I didn't know much about the Beatles when younger, at a yard sale, I found a record by The Beetles, no sleeve just the Lp entitled 'The Beatle Beat' I still have it and it's not too bad, a lot of Beatlesque records hit the shelves back then, I'd bet my 50c on it, that's what I paid years ago. There's a cool instrumental on it called 'The Mersy Beat' If I remember, gotta find it among the wax of yesteryear, once more.
Thanks,
Byron
Wow! I like the sheet music for the Beatles songs, made before the Beatles even wrote them! That's amazing!!!
Publishers anticipated, even that long ago, how popular the Fab Four would be. They were heeding the pop-chart prophecies of Nostradamus.
Cheers Lee! How do I email you about this 1964 Top Six UK EP? I want to learn more info about the single and its Fab music tracks. I host Radio RockonTour which is available as a stream online for global listners.
Well, at the moment, my 45 collection is completely out of order--it would take me a while to track down the singles. I can tell you that they're British sound-alikes with six "hits" per EP and an LP-sized center hole (though I recall "Beatlemania" has a regular 45 center). I'll look around for them. You can email me at Hartsfeld at windstream.net.
