Sunday morning gospel--Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper: Sacred Songs

Some LP covers shout, "Budget!" This is one of them. Columbia apparently took pains to ensure that its Harmony label covers wouldn't be mistaken for something non-budget. Sound-wise, however, Harmony reissues were Grade A. That's something I love about the line--the contrast between the two-cent covers and the terrific selections and sound. Much better than the reverse.

So, what do we learn about Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper from the liner notes? Nothing. There aren't any. But, again, the music is terrific. And there's always the Google search box.

This LP hails from 1960. The year for each track is included in the mp3's Album info--these years have nothing to do with the LP itself, whose cover shouts "budget!" but whose grooves deliver pure gospel gold. (Did I out-cliche myself or what?)
