Christmas with Paul Whiteman, 1928

Two new rips from my beautiful Columbia label copy of Paul Whiteman's 12-inch Christmas 78 from 1928. I forgot to do a label scan, but that's the way it snows-- it's the music that counts, anyway. The arrangers are Ferde Grofe and Bill Challis.

Christmas Melodies (A: Ferde Grofe)--Paul Whiteman Orch., 1928.

Silent Night, Holy Night (A: Bill Challis)--Same.

Lee,

Paired with Crosby's 1935 versions of "Silent Night," these Whitman recordings add splendor to splendor. Thanks for this and every other Whitman recording you have lovingly transferred to MP3. I still think your transfer of 'Grand Canyon' is the best I've ever heard.

Thanks, David. Oddly enough, according to "Bix, Man and Legend," the band didn't want to do these. They felt they were being forced to play shlock. Far from it!

Thank you! Is Bix on these? I think the titles are reversed but still great to have these- thanks again, appreciate it!

Darn! You're right--they're reversed. I thought I'd fixed that. Apparently I didn't!

Anyway, yes, Bix is on these.
