At least, I hope no one is saying that.
With the arrival of 2012, let us all strive to, um.... I don't know.
I just removed a previous post, which in turn linked to a "text" blog piece about Chris Rodda and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation--a cynical piece, to be sure, and written without nearly enough background on the organization and its goals. I ran off half-cocked. (No, not literally, har, har.) Something I don't do very often, unless once a day is your definition of "very often."
Not all organizations standing up for religious freedom are using that phrase to shield frivolous litigation. Whatever I think of the MRFF's methods--and I don't know enough to judge--, they're responding to very real and serious matters. Which is more than I'm doing by questioning their sincerity.
Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR! And look for Sunday Morning Gospel to return, bright and early, on (let's see) the 8th of January! Meanwhile, the twelve days of Christmas are still happening.

It's just not the old year turning into the new year without some music from Lee's blog. So I played some stuff I had from previous years. :)
Lee, your move to - as my father would say; RIP - restate your tractment... is particularly mature and responsible, and (by that definition, I suppose) especially rare in the blogosphere. Lead on, good sir.
I, too, am a proud, card-carrying liberal who in faith also places deep and high regard for the full span of twelve days to Christmas; I, too, mull troubledly the deepening overcommercialization of the traditionally rich, profound season (and its other bookend of faith, Easter); and likewise the increasingly superficial, value-absent society/culture about us, one utterly oblivious to the difference between "freedom" and "license". We press for increasing responsibility... and here, you've put your blog where your values are. Again, lead on, sir!
Kind regards,

Thank you! It's always a treat to read your posts. Especially because I tend to absolutely agree with them!
This is why I say you're too kind, Sir Lee! You've got the deep knowledgebase of the music - in history, technique, and instrumentation - as well as a shellac and vinyl collection that must fill a sizeable (climate-controlled) outbuilding, and are generous enough to serve its richnesses out to the rest of the world (even to the leeches).
Me (as with many of your readers, I'm sure), I just have the curiosity, interest, and hopefully sufficiently-open mind to bend an ear, quirked eyebrow, and ready nod, at your offerings. I feel like the momentary, blatting note of dischord, the times (as now), I weigh in... likely more than needfully - I apologize for that!
Shoot; I can't even play "Chopsticks" (although I used to be able to play the Hatikvah on a Hammond organ... and once, many decades ago, shredded reeds on a licorice-stick, I think they call it), and so we appreciate in particular your taking the time to share with us how you get some of those sounds, both off the shellac (especially in cleaning up the work), and your own gentle keyboarded offerings.
Do keep the info - opinion, music, faith, quirks, and general goings-on - flowing. And the cats! Thank you for them as well; as the harried/hairied owner (well, human property) of an especially testy lady-Himalayan, I'm one of a good number of readers who also enjoy the occasional update on how the feline cousins are taking care of you and Bev.
Here's to a great 2012: may it exceed 2011 in all good regards... which shouldn't be that hard to do; the year's got an easy job, if that's its mission. Thank the good Lord, by the way, that you can't easily tear your hair out over the upcoming year-long electoral sideshow. No matter what, it's not going to be a boring year!
Cheers!
