Sunday morning gospel: Oak Ridge Quartet--Go Out to the Program (1960)

Another gem from those boxes and boxes of gospel LPs at Goodwill, featuring the utterly awesome harmonizing of the Oak Ridge Quartet, 1960.  In glorious mono, I should add.  Every track is a winner, with the title number stealing the show--er, program.  It contains "friendly" imitations of other gospel acts, most memorably the Chuck Wagon Gang.

The line-up (from back-cover photo; not shown here): Smitty Gatlin, Second Tenor; Herman Harper, Bass; Ron Page, Baritone and M.C.; "Little Willie" Wynn, First Tenor; and Gary Trusler, Pianist.

Recorded in RCA Studio, Nashville TN and produced by Brock Speer.  (I love it when gospel jackets give lots of data!  Except, naturally, the year.)  Get with the program by clicking the following link and downloading zip file "ORQ":

Go Out to the Program--The Oak Ridge Quartet

I Get Happy
I've Got Jesus in Me
OH, How Much He Cares
I Thank Thee, Lord
You Gotta Be Born Again
Go Out to the Program
That Great Judgment Day
In the Morning
A Morning Prayer
What Will You Do?
Because of Him
Read That Book

(Skylite SRLP-5982; 1960.  Recorded in Nashville.)

Drats! Busted!

Actually, it's pure habit. I'm used to finishing my SMG posts in the a.m. on Sunday and posting them immediately, but lately I've been early. After six years of blogging, I'm becoming punctual!
