Um, no, meteors aren't "science"--they're rocks.

More priceless pontification from your blogger at Lee's Pontifications, where Lee pontificates.  And Google's spell checker still doesn't recognize "pontification."

To pontificate, according to Merriam-Webster, is "to speak or express opinions in a pompous or dogmatic way."  Yeah, that about covers it.  (Wait a minute.  Pompous?  Dogmatic??)

Anyway, in my short essay I point out the difference between science and, say, a bowling ball.  Or an apple. Or a box of 78s sitting in the sun.  (What horrible flea-market memories that brings back....)

Pontificate : eth. from "pontifex" (latin) : the ones who smoothed the "bridge" between gods and men

Love the Dr. No cover...wow. Let's see Goldfinger and Thunderball, my two favorites...great stuff! Maybe Doc Savage should have a cover as well...

This was an actual CI issue from 1963, first appearing in the British CI line, then in the U.S. on DC comics (different cover). I should have bought the British reissue (facsimile would be a better word) when it was available. The originals go for pretty big money on eBay.

Here's a great page on it: http://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/comics/comicbook_dn.php3?s...id..

A recent British facsimile, I should note. I saw it a few years back, and now it seems to no longer exist.

Lee-to properly pontificate, shouldn't you be wearing a funny hat?

Also, in comics for Doc Savage, about 1963 there was a Gold Key number which had James Bama's painting for The Thousand Headed Man.
