As Merv would say: "Oooooooooooooooo!"

Useless trivia: Merv was one of many of the interim hosts of "The Tonight Show" (Jerry Lewis, Jack Carter, Florence Henderson) between Jack Paar and Johnny Carson in 1962. His four week stint was so successful that NBC seriously considered giving the show to Merv and buying off Carson.

Instead, Griffin was given his own NBC daytime show that began in the fall of 1962 and ended one year later. He then got his longtime syndicated TV show in 1965.
