Zippyshare

Apologies for the false links on Zippyshare--they're a major pain.  I refer to the way that, the moment we so much as tap our mouse, Z. takes us to another page, one containing a download we didn't ask for.  Anymore, this is standard internet practice.  Sometimes, of course, it's simply blackmail to get us to "upgrade" to spam-free service.

However, I've found a way to get around the page hijack.  It doesn't always work (it's failed me once so far), but clicking within the  arrow circle on "DOWNLOAD NOW" (instead of the rectangle itself) should get the proper download started:

My browser is Google Chrome.  I haven't tried this on IE or Firefox.  Malware scans reveal nothing on my PC that could be doing the page-hijacking, but scans aren't perfect....

It changes from time to time, but at the moment, clicking the Download Now button always opens a new page of Spam. Just close the new page (often you can close the page before the garbage loads), then click the same Download Now button again and the download will start. That's in Firefox.

You can also do a Right Click, then Select Download Linked File. That works like a charm for me to avoid all of the spammyness :)

I am also using Chrome. When I am going to click on the Zippy 'download now' bar I always have my mouse ready to quickly move to the top and close the new window as it's opening. I've found that as long as I don't click on anything on the unwanted page I don't have any problem with unwanted programs downloading. Then after I download the share I clear my browsing history. I'm not an expert but this seems safe enough to me.

Before this recent spate of unwanted pages I've found Zippy to be preferable to many of the other download sites people use, with the possible exception of Mega.

Merry Christmas and thanks for all the music you have shared with us through the year. It is very much appreciated.

Good one. You might try Google Drive for it's free hosting that doesn't expire or play tricks. And when you've exhausted the 15GB of storage you can always get another Gmail account and another 15GB.

I have Chrome and use the adblock plus extension. It gets rid of the unwanted pages. Consider it an early Christmas present. Here's the info:

And this is why Mega is my preferred overall these days. Saying this, I've not had any problems with Zippy on Firefox with the add-on mentioned above. Thank you again for everything.

Thanks for the tips. Actually, I have Adblock Plus, but it's not preventing this, to my surprise. And, unfortunately, I'm not getting that right-click option. Not sure why. But glad this isn't proving a major hassle for most.

And, you know the old expression. (I hope you do, because I don't!)

Merry Christmas, and thanks. Zippyshare is, for me, more or less dependable. I just kill the pop-ups as soon as they appear, and the download has usually already started. I'm using Chrome on Android.

to quote Monte python: "Spam, Spam, Spam. I don't like Spam!" Actually in Safari you can have the spammer's page up and then go to History and re-click the Zippy link and it will work fine.
Have a great Christmas Lee, enjoy!
