Thank you

I couldn't believe it, and almost still can't, but I'm very grateful.  My pastor called and said a number of blog readers and Facebook people have contacted her expressing concern about me.  About my mental state.  I've been talking suicide with at least one person--about lying down in the woods and not coming back out.  Anxiety has been torturing me even worse than usual for the past week--the holidays are always rough for me.  For anyone with Major Depressive Disorder, really.  And I'm alone this time around.

I thought I was pissing in the wind, more or less.  What could anyone do for me?  And then people take the time to find out who my pastor is and to contact her.  Thank you.  Thank you.

I didn't know people cared that much.  I'm so very grateful for your kindness and your concern.  And your friendship.  It means a lot.

Lee...the music is what keeps me happy. Life is too interesting, diverse, and exciting to want to leave it without exploring as much as one can. Reach out and talk to us when you need to vent or exalt, please. You have made many of us happy and want to live life; let us do the same for you.

I know how exhausted and heavy one's soul can get, but please know that no matter how dark it seems, there are more people that you can imagine who want to help carry you back to where you can experience lightness again. Many are complete strangers who "know" you through this MARVELOUS page. There are a lot of us out here who visit just for the added zing of your posts which make the music even better. Please let us help carry whatever burden you have.

Better to share your feelings with others and let us help you, Lee. We all need some help sometime or other. Don't be afraid to reach out when you need to!

Hi Lee,

So glad that you posted this and also that you are public about your feelings. It's a good reminder to the lurkers like me to drop you a line to let you know what a great resource your blog is. Thanks for your efforts. It's been truly invaluable.

I'm sorry to hear you've been feeling so down, and I relate because I also struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts, sending you much positive energy, prayers and support from Northern Maine!

Take time off from the blog if you need to, but don't pack it all in just yet, this blog gives us all such a unique insight, to what would otherwise have become a very lost chapter in the history of American popular music!

We all have a lot of love and respect for you, Lee. I appreciate the work you share here. And I think the first time I found your blog you had just posted some of your own keyboard work, the reason I came back and made you a regular stop on the music blog train via my browser, and then saw you were sharing 78 RPM platters. I know personally how loaded we can get spiritually and mentally, especially at Christmas, so it's good to know you have a small network of unseen loving friends to walk with. Hang tough, you're always in my prayers.

lee, a ways back i heard thanksgiving is the big deal. people get together and have food. i see my brother and that's it. the rest of it is all downhill from there. if you're really lucky you can sled downhill. Christmas just won't ever be as great as when we were little. grin and bear it sums it up. if God has taught me one thing over the years it's how to be alone and not lonely. i do rely on my golden LUNA who is a massive part of my life. your site is incredible - a true original. you're in ohio? i'm in southern michigan in trenton. about 30 yrs ago a family friend provided blank cassettes and i put 2 boxes of 78's on them. luckily i was allowed to keep a few discs with the owners permission. i have a beautiful 78 picture disc probably from the 30's or 40's in perfect shape. luckily we have a lee to keep us on track and oriented. in 300 years i might not be remembered; or lee either. i am certain people will still be listening to louis armstrong and duke ellington. thats why i love the site. r. keith
