Happy Goodman Family--Portrait of Excitement (Canaan CAS-9655; 1968)

Thanks to those curses to humanity known as Windows 10 and the new Blogger, this post is arriving late.  I spent 20 minutes on what should have been a three-minute task--migrating and renumbering the individual files.  And getting the four images inserted, and  in order, took three tries--a task that used to take maybe a minute.  That's progress.  So, I don't have time to say much, save that the Happy Goodman Family is Southern gospel.  It's not possible to miss with this wonderful group, and my thanks to Diane for this great thrift gift.

I yell at 10 fairly often, but somehow that never inspires it to behave rationally.  I'm just glad I didn't have to deal with any of the earlier versions.

Luckily, we have lively and superb gospel music to get our minds--or my mind, anyway--off of all troubles and woes and car alarms.  Twelve delightful gems--just bear with the slow opening number.  Nothing against slow numbers, but they should be placed someplace within a program as energetic as this one, and not at the start.  Not that anyone asked me.

To the great gospel...

Thank you! Get rids of Windoze and get a Mac!

Wondering why you don't post files at higher bitrate or even lossless.

The new Blogger is an abomination. Just trying to insert photos is a major chore, with new tools that are without any documentation. It's exasperating.

I probably should listen to the Happy Goodmans to get over this malaise.

Buster--

Glad you agree! I was thinking it was just me. Another charming new-Blogger bit: I elected to go back to the classic version, only to discover that all of my past posts went kaput. No way to go into them and retrieve/revive links, or anything of that nature. So I was essentially forced to go back to the new version. I wish I could begin to comprehend why the software folks would set things up so that images appear in reverse order. Is it "Let's mess with the users"?

Groovylounge--

I've always wanted to keep them to a reasonable size, to avoid long download times. What bitrate do you think would be best?

Oh, and the pull-down menu to switch from HTML to regular form is so astronomically unnecessary, it practically sets a record for stupidity.

There may have been a time (20 years ago?) when download time was a concern with dial-up. Hardly anybody has such a slow connection these days. I would suggest a lossless format. Thanks!

The new Blogger interface is being universally condemned by users. It's the "upgrade" nobody needed or wanted. How sad Google didn't seek user input before unleashing it and forcing it on bloggers.

Lossless might better showcase the work you put into these files. I think it would be worth it.

Lee,
Looking forward to this'n' and my vote is, whatever ya do with the bit rate, stay with mp3, please! More later, love and prayin' for ya! P.S., I gave up on Blogger a long time ago (like right after my first post), due to accessibility issues, nuff said there.

Lee,
Sorry I haven't gotten back with you/to this, been a lot going on 'round here, still playing catch-up. This has to have been a popular album, to say the least, for I've heard most of these cuts before, on the radio somewhere, over the years. My favorite still has to be, Crossing Over Jordan, always loved it! Speaking of popular, the title (of the album) is too, for The Florida Boys did one by the same name and (I believe) on the same label, different songs of course and I believe it was later too LOL! I believe that particular album, has a pic of the boys hanging from an airplane, but don't hold me to that, my vision isn't too good and neither is my memory LOL! More to come later, I'm sure and keep more comin', love and prayin' for ya!

Lee,
Gonna try this again, ARGH! This has to be a popular album, 'cause I've heard most every cut on it, on the radio, somewhere, over the years. The title of the album must have been popular as well, for The Florida Boys did one by the same name and (I believe) on the same label! It was later and with different songs though, of course LOL! More to come later, I'm sure (if this goes through). Keep 'em comin' regardless, love and prayin' for ya!
