WOW! Right across the river from us...J.B. Ford Company was Michigan Alkali Company which became BASF...I grew up West of these chemical plants...they were situated on the Detroit River and for the most part, the toxic fumes they spewed went East toward Canada. Occasionally, however, the winds shifted and we got the great odors of the manufactured chemicals as well as the fine dusts in our neighborhoods.
