This is a repost request from Monkey D. Sound--country and bluegrass sides from two EPS on the Big 6 Records label, which I posted in 2013 and sometime before that. Bob the Scared Data Miner, who doesn't seem to be active on line anymore, gave me this info at the time:
"All these Big 6 EPs are either old masters already issued on various Rite Records budget subsidiaries or new recordings made in the Rite studios. (Guitarist Danny Burton was on all Rite studios sessions)
I've not yet figured out a date nor found who really owned the 'Big 6' label. Quite possibly from the sixties."
I had figured that Big 6 had to be a product of Cincinnati's Rite Records, too. And here's Danny Burton on Gateway Records, Rite's house label:

Who can figure this stuff out? Anyway, new rips with decent fidelity, and some rockers here and there in the list. Not a dud in the bunch.

Hi Lee, I'm still active. The "Bob the Scared Data Miner" pseudo that I was thinking funny somehow, was inspired by Dorse Lewis, The Scared Coal Miner, an artist who recorded hillbilly in the fifties. I don't use this pseudo anymore.

Lee, been browsing http://anyplace72.rssing.com/ for deleted posts and while early links don't seem to work, those from late 2013 seems okay. Just discovered Is it far? by the rock of ages quartet and had to drop a comment of thanks. Blew my mind,Incredible LP tipycally a kind of gospel i love. Eternally grateful !

Thanks for this interesting folder. You said you posted it first in 2013? HMMM, I don't remember it, but that was a few kids and a lot-a-life ago LOL! I see several songs I remember from country/bluegrass days (other than the Gospel standards). They are Cup Of Loneliness, Taggin' Along and Boat Of Life (George Jones), Family Bible (written by Willie did-I-spell-that-right Nelson), I'd Rather Live By The Side Of The Road (The Country Gentlemen) and Wondering Soul (The Boys From Indiana). Oh and another that kinda jumped out at me from Southern Gospel, is I'm Gonna Ride That Glory Train (The Blue Ridge Quartet although they took off the I'm Gonna off the title, from I believe the late '50s, featuring a young George Younts, not-sure-if-I-spelled-that-right-either). Oh and If You Believe, isn't the one I know, LOL! Other versions of Taggin' along that I know of, are The Spencers of Shiloh, OH, Wendy (probably-spelled-that-wrong) Bagwell and the Sunliters and a friend of mine's daddy, the late Early Upchurch of Mount Airy, NC, although I believe the latter titled it I'm Gonna Tag Along With Jesus. I have The Spencers' album with it thereon, but not WB&SL. As I said, interesting find, enjoyable though. Sunday Dinner's on the table, so better get off here, love and prayin' for ya!

I have to agree with a previous commenter, Is It Far is one of my favorite posts Lee ever put up! Lee, if you find any more of their material (if they put out any more I dunno) by all means, please post it! Oh and I've been meaning to get you the two other Valley Voices albums I have from CDs to CDs, just gotta uncover the envelope for the jacket info, run them off and burn new CDs for ya and I'll have it LOL! A lot of my older uploads vanished when a hosting service went down. I can't remember the name of the place, but it crashed, and then it promised to come back up--and never did. I replaced some of the links, but only if I had the original zip file. Usually, I didn't. Nowadays, I save my zips to hard drive, then to DVD-R.
Also kept everything from your post Tops in Pops. Or is it Top 12 Hits? Featuring "Special Guest Vocalists." Or...? from here http://anyplace72.rssing.com/chan-7066649/all_p7.html which is from 2 eps. Always amazed by how good the productions can sometimes be from the Cover labels.
Listened to Southern-Aires Gospel Singers as you recommended, was a bit disappointed because i found it to have much potential as far as composition goes but i'm really not fond of their singing as if they sing false/too forced or maybe i just can't handle their voices ( since i have no actual knowledge of singing to judge ). Still was interesting
The group has a very old-fashioned sound. It's as if someone recorded a 1920s quartet in the 1970s. That's what I like about them--the early, early sound. But it does take some getting used to!
